科学技術文明の構造改革による
エコ文明への大転換が必要だ。
We need to transform into an ecological civilization by
restructuring our technological civilization.
「生命の一大連鎖である地球生命圏を必ず守り抜く」という価値観に基づいた、
“エコ神学”を構築することが不可欠である。
We must construct an “eco-theological theory” with the fundamental goal of
“protecting the Earth’s biosphere and the chain of life”.
自然界を自分の意のままに扱い、
科学技術によって制御できると
考えるのは幻想である。
人間は謙虚であるべきだ。
これからは、オーソドックスな方法で脱炭素、脱物質化に取り組む必要がある。
Handle the natural world with your own hands -
it is fantasy to think that
it can be controlled by technology.
Humans ought to be humble.
It is crucial to use orthodox methods to address carbon use
and our post-materialist society.
この素晴らしい地球生命圏を守ることは、
私にとって宗教に近い。
現代の困難な状況の中で地球環境を守る取り組みをするためには、「宗教的信念」が必要だ。
Protecting our incredible biosphere is like a religion to me.
“Religious conviction” is necessary in order to protect the global environment
in the face of the difficult predicaments we face today.
日本の科学技術が名誉を回復するための努力は、
若い人々の志のあり方にかかっている。
東日本大震災のような原発事故を再び起こしたら、日本の将来はないという懸念もある。
Restoring the reputation of Japanese technology is tied to the hopes of our young people.
People worry that if another nuclear accident were to occur, Japan would have no future.
ライフスタイルの転換に
不退転の決意で取り組むためには、
エコ神学や環境倫理が不可欠だ。
自分たちの将来をどうするかについて、
きちんと考えを表明して行動しなければならない。
Eco-theology and environmental ethics are
essential to tackling our changing lifestyles
with unwavering resolve.
Regarding what we should do about our future, we must all express our thoughts and act properly.
