困難に見える時であっても、
世界には平和への希望が
必ずあると信じている。
No matter how difficult things may seem at times,
there is hope for peace in the world.
典礼の場以外では“宗教”という言葉は“平和”という言葉とは関係なく、
むしろ紛争や暴力、虐殺を思い浮かべさせる。
Outside of a liturgical setting, the word religion is not naturally related to the word peace.
Rather it, all too often, conjures up images of conflict, violence, and bloodshed.

異なる宗教を持つ人々が交流しあい、
「毎日平和に暮らしている」という
事実にこそ、未来の希望がある。
私たちの異宗教間コンソーシアムは、異宗教間の対話をしているのではない。
毎日多くの事柄についての話をしているのだ。
There is hope for the future because the vast majority of people of
different religions interact normally and live together
“peacefully, every day”.
We are not in an interreligious dialogue. We talk every day about lots of things.

平和の文化を進展させるために
最も重要なのは、
教員の育成をすることである。
偏見の根底には、他グループに関しての否定的なメッセージを受け取ることを
何世代も続けてきたという事実がある。
それを断ち切るためには、教師の育成が必要だ。
One of the most important steps in promoting
a culture of peace is to begin with the
training of teachers.
Prejudices have a root in the fact that people have learned them for generations,
receiving negative messages about the “other group”.
The training of teachers is needed to break that cycle.

異宗教間カリキュラムが成功するためには、
それぞれの宗教が持つ文化的・宗教的背景への
配慮がなされるべきだ。
異宗教間の理解と平和構築のためのカリキュラムは、
そのカリキュラムが使用される地域に適応したものである必要がある。
Every religion has different cultural and religious backgrounds
that must be heeded if interreligious
curriculum is going to be successful.
Curriculam for interreligious understanding and
peace-building programs must be tailored to the regions in which they will be utilized..

生徒をカリキュラムの“ターゲット”ではなく、
カリキュラムを共に創作する
“パートナー”として扱わなければならない。
カリキュラムには、学生との相互作用がもっとも重要だ。
Students shouldn’t be treated as
“targets” of the curriculum,
but as full on partners in creating it.
The most important thing in curriculum creation is the mutual interaction of the students.
