2014年6月28日（土）～29日（日）の二日にわたり、理論言語学の観点からの日本語研究の学会が開催されました。極めて鋭い日本語研究の議論の場として認められるこの学会は1994年に米国MITの宮川繁教授により設立されました。その宮川教授が国際基督教大学献学60周年記念教授として着任中に、ICUでこの学会が開催されたことに大きな意義があります。内外からの研究者および、第一線で活躍する研究者が集まり、人間の言語一般に対する理解がよりいっそう深まる機会となりました。

Over a period of two days, June 28 (Sat.) – 29 (Sun.), 2014, the Formal Approaches to Japanese Linguistics conference was held. Professor Shigeru Miyagawa of MIT in the USA began this conference, recognized as a venue for discussing cutting-edge research on Japanese linguistics, in 1994. The fact that this conference was held at ICU during Professor Miyagawa’s tenure as ICU 60th Anniversary Professor is very meaningful. Researchers from inside and outside Japan, as well as researchers who work at the frontlines, gathered. The conference became an opportunity to further deepen understanding of human language in general.
