A Path Toward
Making Use of Our Gifts

60年前にICUを献学した先人たちは、
なにもないところからICUを作られた。
Sixty years ago, those people before us who founded ICU built the university from nothing
私たちは、常にその苦労を思い出さなければならない。
You and I must never forget their hard work.
未完の大学として、
常に進歩する大学を作りたいとの
熱い思いでICUが設立された。
日本と世界の平和と発展に貢献する人材の育成というビジョンと、
神様の導きによって、現在のICUの基礎が作られたのだ。
As a yet unfinished university, ICU
was established with an enthusiasm to create a
university that would always move forward, always walk ahead.
ICU’s foundation was built upon a vision of educating people who would contribute to peace
and development in Japan and throughout the world, under God’s guidance.
私たちは自分がどのような賜物を
神様から与えられているか、よく知っているのだろうか。
私が神様から与えられたのは技術者の道ではなく、ビジネスの世界で、
営業として、管理者として生きる道だった。
仕事の歩みの中で岐路に直面した時に、神様は進むべき道を示してくれた。
Do we know what gifts God has granted to each of us?
The path God put before me was not one of a technician
but rather a path in the business world of sales and management.
When I would come to a crossroads in my work, God showed me which path to take.
ICUはキリスト教徒ではない学生、教職員も含めて、
一つの共同体「ICUコミュニティー」を作っている。
共同体の構成員は、それぞれが持つ賜物と経験、知識を生かして、互いに仕えあわなければならない。
ICU creates a community that encompasses also those students, faculty and staff who are not Christian.
The members of a community must make use of their individual gifts, experiences and knowledge and use them in the service of one another.
日本社会はリベラル・アーツ教育を
必要としており、
優れた教育環境を構築して、
優れた学生を育てることが、
私たちの大切な使命だ。
賜物を生かし、喜びをもって神様の示す道に従うことでICUは成長できる。
Japanese society needs liberal arts education,
and it is our important mission to
build a superior learning environment and
nurture excellent students.
ICU will continue to grow if we make use of the great gifts we possess,
and walk the path shown to us by God with joy in our hearts.
