人工芝フィールド完成記念式典
Inauguration of
New Athletic Field
献学60周年事業としてから取り組まれてきた「フィールド人工芝化」が、構想から3年を経て完成しました。これを祝して、4月13日には記念式典と現役・卒業生対抗のラグビー部、サッカー部、アメリカンフットボール部によるミニゲームが行われ、チアリーダーが声援を送りました。
「ICUフィールド人工芝化」のための募金活動がICUのフィールドを利用する11のクラブで構成された「ICU人工芝化推進協議会」とICUとの合意に基づきスタートしたのは2011年。「キャンパス・教育環境の改善」、「奨学金制度の充実」、「アカデミック・プログラムの充実」という3つの大きな柱で構成された献学60周年記念事業の、「キャンパス・教育環境の改善」に関わるプロジェクトとして推進されてきました。
As part of the 60th Anniversary Project, the introduction of artificial turf into the athletic grounds took three years from conception to completion. In order to commemorate this, an inauguration ceremony and series of "mini-games" were held on 13 April. The games included the students and alumni of the rugby, soccer and football teams as well as cheerleaders.
Fundraising for the artificial turf started in 2011, based on agreement of both ICU and the ICU Artificial Turf Promotion Committee, which was composed of 11 clubs that use the fields. It was promoted as a 60th Anniversary Project under the first of the three-pillars of "improving the campus and educational environment," "improving financial aid," and "improving academic programs."
このプロジェクトのユニークな点は、その企画から費用の分担まで、大学と卒業生を中心とした賛同者とがそれぞれ半分の責任を担いながら協力して推進してきたことです。2012年9月に設置された人工芝実施検討委員会には大学側から参加した保健体育科の教員を含む教職員に加え、卒業生や学生代表も参加しました。また、理事会、教授会、同窓会からの支援に加えて学生からも約1300名の賛同署名があり、さらに募金申込みも400件をこえて今なお増え続けるなど、ICU構成員の多くを巻き込んだプロジェクトとなりました。
The project was unique in that it was developed from planning to expenditure through joint responsibility of ICU and a group of supporters (primarily alumni). In September 2012 a committee to review the project was established and included both students and alumni as well as educational staff from the Health and Physical Education Program. The project won the support of a great portion of the ICU community, with support coming from the Board of Trustees, Faculty Meeting, Alumni Association, and 1,300 students who signed a statement in support of it, plus over 400 pledges, which are still increasing.
4月13日にダイアログハウスで行われた記念式典では、ICU教会のポール・ジョンソン牧師が感謝の祈祷を捧げ、その後、日比谷潤子学長、中内俊一朗フィールド人工芝化推進協議会会長、三橋良子保健体育科主任、施工にあたったフリーダ株式会社浅沼誠部長、学生代表としてサッカー部の白鳥研人さん、そして白石隼男財務理事が、人工芝フィールドが完成した喜びにそれぞれの思い出を重ねながら、挨拶の言葉を述べました。
Reverend Paul Johnson, of the ICU Church, raised a prayer in thanks at the inauguration ceremony held at the Dialogue House. Afterwards, there were words reflecting on the auspiciousness of the project from the ICU president, Junko Hibiya; chair of the Artificial Turf Promotion Committee, Shunichiro Nakauchi; director of the Health and Physical Education Program, Ryoko Mitsuhashi; manager from the installation company Flieder, Makoto Asanuma; manager of the soccer team and current student, Kento Shiratori; as well as the Managing Trustee for Financial Affairs, Hayao Shiraishi.
その後、一同は完成したばかりのフィールドに行き、みずからの足でその感触を確かめながら、チアリーダーが声援する中で行われたラグビー部、サッカー部、アメリカンフットボール部による現役・卒業生対抗それぞれ15分のミニゲームを観戦。現役生チームと卒業生チームとが和気藹々とした雰囲気の中で展開する真剣勝負とファインプレーを展開する中、ファインプレーやユーモラスなプレーに盛んな拍手と歓声が送られました。最後はフィールドに集った人々全員で記念写真撮影。記念イベントの幕は閉じられ、フィールドは生まれ変わった新たな施設として歩み始めました。
After the inauguration, participants went over the field to see it for themselves. With cheerleaders' voices urging them on, students and alumni from the rugby, soccer and football teams each played 15-minute "mini-games." There was a friendly atmosphere between the student teams and alumni teams and both earnest and comedic demonstrations of athleticism were met with cheers and applause. Finally, all participants came together for a commemorative photo. By the end of the commemorative event, ICU had fully welcomed the wonderful addition to its sporting facilities.
